Improvement works

From time to time, often at weekends or public holidays, Gatwick Express has to make alterations to train services, usually for planned Improvement works.

Disruption through Balham

Trains are now able to run normally through Balham, following a broken down train at this station.

Amended Gatwick Express service on Sunday 22 April

Engineering work is taking place between Purley and Three Bridges, closing some lines.

Gatwick Express will run a half-hourly service all day on Sunday.

Amended service between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport on Sunday 29 April

Engineering work is taking place between Balham and Selhurst, closing some lines.

Gatwick Express:

Until 07:00 buses will replace trains between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

After 07:00, a half hourly service will operate between London Victoria and Gatwick. The first train services to run will be the 06:30 London Victoria to Gatwick Airport and the 07:15 Gatwick Airport to London Victoria. 

Trains will then run from London Victoria to Gatwick at 00 and 30 minutes past the hour. Trains from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria will run at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour.

Amended service between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport / Brighton from Saturday 5 until Monday 7 May

Engineering work will be taking place in the Gatwick Airport area.

Saturday and Monday:

A half hourly service will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport. Customers for Brighton can use Southern or Thameslink services by any reasonable route.

Sunday:

A half hourly service will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

Amended Gatwick Express service on Monday 7 May

An enhanced Saturday service will run on all Gatwick Express routes on Bank Holiday Monday.

Amended Gatwick Express service until 06:10 on Sunday 13 May

Engineering work is taking place at various locations between Balham and Three Bridges, closing some lines.

The 05:00, 05:15 and 05:30 London Victoria to Gatwick Airport and the 05:50 and 06:05 Gatwick Airport and London Victoria will be cancelled.

A replacement bus service will in place of cancelled services.

Buses replace trains between Reigate / Redhill to Gatwick Airport from 23:45 on Saturday 09 and all day Sunday 10 June

Engineering work is taking place between Reigate and Earlwood from 23:45 Saturday and all day Sunday 10 June, closing the lines.

Saturday

The 23:34 Reading to Gatwick Airport service will terminate at Redhill for alternative train services to Gatwick Airport.

Sunday

Trains between Reading and Redhill / Gatwick Airport will start / terminate at Reigate.

Road transport will operate hourly between Reigate and Gatwick Airport taking 25 minutes

2 buses an hour will run between Reigate and Redhill taking 10 minutes.

In most cases it will be necessary to leave Gatwick Airport / Redhill earlier than normal to maintain connections at Reigate.

Some services between Reigate and Reading will be retimed.

It's not yet known how Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink will be affected.
