Improvement works

From time to time, often at weekends or public holidays, Gatwick Express has to make alterations to train services, usually for planned Improvement works.

Disruption between Clapham Junction and East Croydon / Mitcham Junction

Trains are now able to run normally between Clapham Junction and East Croydon / Mitcham Junction following a fault with the signalling system in the Streatham area earlier today.

Disruption between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport

Disruption caused by a number of incidents today between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport has now ended.

 

Disruption between London Victoria and Clapham Junction

Trains are now able to run as normal between London Victoria and Clapham Junction following a fault with the signalling system.

Problems with the Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink websites

Govia Thameslink Railway apologise that the Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink websites are currently down.

No Gatwick Express service on Sunday 16 December

Engineering work is taking place between London Victoria and Clapham Junction closing most lines.

No Gatwick Express services will run. Trains to and from Gatwick Airport will run from other central London stations including Blackfriars and London Bridge.

Alternative travel arrangements will be in place between Clapham Junction and London Victoria. All services at Clapham Junction are expected to be very busy. Please avoid Clapham Junction if possible.

Engineering work is taking place between London Victoria and Clapham Junction closing most lines.

No trains will run between London Victoria and Clapham Junction. Buses will operate between London Victoria and Clapham Junction, however customers should travel to and from London Bridge / London Blackfriars where possible.

Gatwick Express

No trains will run. Customers should use alternative Southern services to complete their journey.

Trains to and from Gatwick Airport will run from other central London stations including London Blackfriars and London Bridge.

Southern

Most trains are diverted to start / terminate at London Bridge.

Alternative travel arrangements will be in place between London Victoria and Clapham Junction.

All services at Clapham Junction are expected to be very busy. Please avoid Clapham Junction if possible.

As a result of this engineering work the trains service between East Croydon and Milton Keynes Central will not run

Ticket acceptance

Customers can use London Underground between London Victoria and London Bridge / London Blackfriars / Balham / Vauxhall.

Customers may also use London Underground between East Croydon and London Euston on any reasonable route.

London Northwestern Railway between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central.

Southeastern and Thameslink trains are not affected by this engineering work.

Engineering is taking place between Purley and Horley closing some lines.

Trains are diverted between Purley and Horley and will not call at stations between Purley and Horley

Replacement buses, will run between Purley and Horley calling at all stations.

Amended Northern late night trains not calling at Salford Central from Monday 17 to Thursday 21 December

Engineering work is taking place from 23:30 between Manchester Victoria and Salford Central, closing some lines.

The 22:18 Southport to Manchester Victoria service will not call at Salford Central.

The 22:19 Blackburn to Wigan Wallgate service will not call at Salford Central.

Major improvement work is being undertaken to renew the track at Battersea Pier Junction. This will improve reliability around the London Victoria area.

No Gatwick Express services will run. Alternative trains will be available between London and Gatwick Airport from other central London stations including Blackfriars and London Bridge.

Ticket acceptance:

You may use your ticket on London Underground services between London Victoria and London Blackfriars / London Bridge.

Engineering work is taking place between Redhill and Gatwick Airport, closing various lines.

Great Western Railway

Trains between Reading and Gatwick Airport will terminate at, and start back from Redhill. Road transport will operate between Redhill and Gatwick Airport, with bus journeys taking approximately 25 minutes. Please allow extra time for your journey.

Gatwick Express / Southern / Thameslink

It is not yet known if Gatwick Express, Southern and / or Thameslink services will be affected by this engineering work. Please check back a bit nearer to your travel date to see if your journey will be affected.
