Improvement works

From time to time, often at weekends or public holidays, Gatwick Express has to make alterations to train services, usually for planned Improvement works.

Amended Gatwick Express service on Sunday 9 April

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Selhurst and Purley, closing some lines.

Customer Advice:

Until 06:00, buses replace trains throughout.

From 06:00, a half hourly Gatwick Express service will operate as follows:

Trains will depart London Victoria on the hour and 30 minutes past.

Trains will depart Gatwick Airport at 20 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour.

No Gatwick Express service on Sunday 16 April

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between London Victoria and Balham closing all lines.

No trains will run from or to London Victoria.

Customer Advice

No trains will run. Customers should use Southern trains between London Bridge and Gatwick Express. Overnight trains are replaced by buses between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

Amended late night Great Northern services between Ely and Kings Lynn from Monday 29 May to Thursday 1 June

Engineering work is taking place between Ely and Kings Lynn, closing the line.

Customer advice:

The 22:14 and 23:14 London Kings Cross to Kings Lynn services will terminate at Ely. A rail replacement bus service will run from Ely to Kings Lynn, calling at all stations.

Revised service between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport on Saturday 10 June and Sunday 11 June

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport, closing some lines.

Advice for Gatwick Express customers:

A half hourly service will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

Advice for Great Western Railway customers:

Trains between Reading and Redhill / Gatwick Airport will start / terminate at Reigate. An hourly replacement bus will run between Reigate and Gatwick Airport, to connect with this service. Buses will also run between Reigate and Redhill.

Advice for Southern customers:

A reduced service will run between London Victoria and Brighton.

A replacement bus will run between Tonbridge and Redhill and between Purley and Redhill / Horley.

Advice for Thameslink customers:

On Saturday, the 23:10 and 23:40 Bedford to Three Bridges services will depart East Croydon later than normal, arriving into Three Bridges approximately 19 minutes later than scheduled.

Trains from London Bridge to Brighton will not call at Balcombe, but trains from Bedford to Brighton will call additionally at Balcombe.

Services between Bedford and Three Bridges will run non-stop between Purley and Gatwick Airport. A replacement bus will run between Purley and Gatwick Airport via Redhill.

On Sunday, a revised service will run between London Bridge and Brighton.

Buses replace trains between Dartford and Maidstone West / Gillingham on Sunday 11 June

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between Dartford and Maidstone West / Rochester closing the lines.

Customer advice:

Buses replace trains between Dartford and Maidstone West / Gillingham.

Additional buses will also run between Ebbsfleet International and Meopham to connect with trains to / from Ramsgate.
